Following on from my previous model of this unique Ferrari shown elsewhere in my showroom I was commissioned to build a second example but as a 'moving' diorama. We settled on the car in action at Pebble Beach in 1956 and driven by Jack McAfee.. We then had to research what the car (and driver ) looked like in that race... This time and rare for me the scale was to be 1:24 as in my usual1:12 scale the diorama would have been too big. The car was scratch built with the chassis and suspension set in a classic 'tail out understeer' pose. The wheels are aftermarket photo etched and alloy rims items. I just used the rims, tires and hubs replacing the photo etched spokes with transparent disks carefully mounting them on a lathe and painting on some 'blur as they turned.. The object was to make them look as if they were spinning when they were in fact obviously static. I made a driver figure and positioned him desperately trying to correct the understeer then put a period head and helmet, painted in the colours of Jack McAfee and placed the whole thing on a base I had made to fit within a glass case. I had painted a very blurred track and added some railway modelers grass. The whole thing looked quite convincing... I think

Nice job,,how did you get the "wheelspin" effect on the wheels?
