The white base is Testors enamel, the top is a custom mixed automotive base coat with a sealer coat of urethane. (The camera makes it look purple, but it is more of a blue.) I still have to apply the graphics.
Basic graphic scheme has been applied. The blue on the body is being color sanded, still needs to be brought up to the level of shine that the finished hood has. (Shooting in direct sunlight provides a more accurate representation of the actual blue color.)
Additional black accents and trim will be added after the body gets brought back up to being glossy.
I made a pair of license plates. The rear has raised “stamped” lettering, (the California was a major PITA, so small). The tag is reflective and the correct color for the year. (I date my builds with the year of completion on the license renewal stickers, that is why it is a 2012, not a late 80’s tag.) The front is a copy of a “Live It” Chevy plate from the mid 80’s, before the arguably more popular “Heartbeat Of America” slogan came out
Paint is at an acceptable shine.
Window frames have been painted semi-gloss black.
I still need to add the weather stripping.
Head lights and grille are installed. The headlights are very nice in this kit, but I added bulbs inside for a little more detail.
Tail lights are in too, BMF for the trim surrounds.
