I'm in WWI 1:32 scale too, I find them "charming" in a way.
The wings was not painted in any color but I oversprayed them
with gloss varnish so the decals would fit easily.
The wing decals worked very good but the crosses was a little fragile .
I make my WWI pilots from Miniarts Russian winter soldiers,
they need some scratch building but turns out rather well.
I hope some maker will produce WWI pilots , I don't know if there are any at all in plastic.

beautiful build thomas. i build exclusively 1/32 birds and ww1 stuff is my most fav. i just bought this kit so you will be the one to answer this... what color did you use for the under tone on the top and bottom wings before decaling them?. ive seen others build this kit but there lozenge toning was way off ..yours appears about perfect. very nice finish overall .the pilot really looks good and compliments this work.
