Description

THIS LOLA T-222 CAN-AM CAR WAS BASED ON THE VINTAGE AMT MCLAREN M8D KIT FROM THE 80'S. IT FEATURES VACU-FORMED BODY PANELS AND WINDSHIELD, AND A SCRATCH-BUILT DRIVER FIGURE. THE BASIC KIT CHASSIS WAS WIDENED AND MODIFIED TO ACCEPT THE LOLA BODYWORK. THE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS LOWERED FOR A MORE REALISTIC APPEARANCE, AND ADHESIVE-BACKED ALUMINUM SHEETING USE IN THE HEATING INDUSTRY WAS USED TO SIMULATE ALUMINUM BODY PANELS. THE BIG-BLOCK CHEVY ENGINE HAS AN EXHAUST SYSTEM MADE FROM ELECTRICAL WIRE BENT IN SHAPE TO JOIN AT THE TOP-UNLIKE THE MCLAREN UNDER-SLUNG EXHAUST. THE DRIVER FIGURE, SHAPED FROM SCULPY PUTTY HAS POSEABLE HANDS MADE FROM THIN TELEPHONE WIRE AND FLESHED OUT WITH LAYERS OF ACRYLIC PAINT, SPORTS AN '70S STYLE HELMET WITH VISOR AND COLOR CO-ORDINATED UNIFORM. RACING NUMERALS WERE LEFT-OVERS FROM A CORVETTE C5-R KIT, AND SMALL SPONSORSHIP DECALS WERE INCLUDED IN THE MCLAREN KIT. THE LOLA WAS AIRBRUSHED IN A SPLASHY THREE-COLOR CONCEPTUAL PAINT SCHEME COVERED BY A FINISHING GLOSS COAT OF FUTURE FLOOR WAX.
