Panzer II Ausf G

Kit / Model

German Panzer II Ausf G

Manufacturer

Tamiya

Item Code

N/A

Scale

1/35

Description

This is the Tamiya’s, 1/35 scale Panzer II Ausf G, a veteran model kit dated of 1973.

The model is not on current industry standards in term of the details, but for the parts molding, that are excellent.

The enhancements were based on new Dragon’s Panzer II model recently released and literature available.

The detail improvements were made by adding: PE detail set, individual link tracks, machine gun and gun metal barrels, bolts, weld seams, rivets and periscopes, even parts from other kits (Wespe & others).

The turret was part that lacked more details, and there I added weld seams, bolts and made a modification on commander cupola to add the periscopes.

Vision ports for driver and gunner were also made.

The turret makings were stencil painted, and for the Balkan cross and unit makings I used dry transfers.

The model was airbrushed painted with Gunze’s Mr. Surface 1000 as a base, and then was airbrushed painted Gunze’s tank gray enamel.

Weathering was done using filters, oils, and pigment powders.

The mud effect was done with a mixture of light dust pigment, brick powder and PVA glue applied with very old brush.

REALLY GOOD WORK HERE!!!
Alvaro, very very nice kit. I build the Panzer II from Tamiya some time ago, a real dog :-(
Your kit is a good example of "how to improve an old kit". The paint work is really amazing. Excellent kitbashing!
Congrats!
